SAP BW 7.3 Upgradate - Technical Aspects

This post explains about the new features in SAP BW 7.3 and cautions to take care while upgrading. This also gives all the required Notes for BW 7.3 Up gradation.

SAP BW 7.3 Upgrade - Step by Step Process

Two or more BW systems on one OLTP system

In real time scenarios, we will get a situation where we need to connect two or more BW systems to single OLTP(ECC) system.


when we get this scenario, the first thing we get in mind is how can we maintain delta queue for two BW systems in one ECC systems.


As we all know in ECC system, RSA7(Delta queue) will be based on target system, but again this is for LO data sources.


When it comes to data sources like FI, which will extract the data based on time stamp maintained in table  BWOM2_TIMEST, This table doesn't contain target system.

SAP has release note which will explain all these scenarios.

Long running of DTP with processing mode 'No data transfer, delta status in source'

In Info Package we have option called "Init witout data transfer" to set the delta status in source without picking data. In the same way, in DTP we have option called "No data transfer, delta status in source" which serves the same purpose. You can find this option in Excute tab, processing mode.

This job will run as dailoge, you can not run this as background. Sometimes if you have lot of requests in source, then this will take lot of time.
